HANNIBAL – After further assessment, the Missouri Department of Transportation has determined the bridge over the South Wyaconda River, located on Route C in Scotland County, approximately four miles west of Brock, will remain closed until it can be replaced.
The bridge was closed on June 3, when significant deterioration was found during a routine bridge inspection. The recommended alternate routes of travel during the closure are Missouri Route 15 to Route CC to Route B in Scotland County. Message boards are in place notifying motorists of the closure.
The bridge, built in 1936, carries an average of 70 vehicles daily. It is one of over 10,000 bridges on the state highway system and is currently planned for replacement in 2022.
