Northbound Route 61 from Cape to Jackson to Close Overnight at Center Junction

Contractor to Tie-In New Pavement

UPDATE: MoDOTs contractor will NOT close NB 61 overnight on July 21. In review of the current work zone configuration, the contractor has modified plans to tie-in new pavement to the existing pavement that will NOT require a closure!

SIKESTON-As construction of the diverging diamond interchange at Interstate 55 and U.S. Route 61 (Exit 99) continues, contractor crews will begin to tie-in new pavement on the northbound lane of Route 61 overnight Tuesday, July 21 from 8 :30 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting.

Planned work will include tying new pavement into existing pavement on the northbound lane of Route 61. Travelers from Cape Girardeau to Jackson, Missouri, will need to seek an alternate route. The work zones will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
