Chip Seal Projects Set to Begin for Lewis County Routes K, C and Missouri Route 16

MACON – Weather and schedule permitting, this week crews will begin sealing projects in Lewis County. Crews will start on Lewis County Route K, beginning at Lewis County Route E to Missouri Route 6 in Labelle. Once that project is complete, crews will move to Missouri Route 16, going from MO 6 to Lewis County Route B in Canton. The final stretch will be Lewis County Route C, beginning at MO 6 in Ewing and ending at Route B in LaGrange. All work is expected to be completed by mid-August.

“Crews will be applying liquid asphalt that helps seal off any cracks that may be in the road, and will then apply small aggregate,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Amy Crawford.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zones using a pilot car while the work is completed. Please obey all work zone signs and personnel. Message boards will be up to notify motorists of the upcoming work.

“Motorists need to slow down on roads where chip sealing is in progress,” said Crawford. “Most damage to vehicles comes when drivers are going too fast or ignore road conditions in a chip seal work zone.”

W. L. Miller of Hamilton, Illinois, was awarded the projects.
