What: Chestnut Expressway traffic shifts to westbound side of bridge over railroad tracks between Sherman/Hammons Parkway and Benton Avenue in downtown Springfield
When: Mid-day on Thursday, July 9. Shift will take place after morning rush hour and should be completed by afternoon rush hour.
Why: Contractor crews have completed work to rehabilitate the westbound side of bridge and will move traffic away from the eastbound side to complete rehabilitation project
Traffic Impacts:
- Traffic slowdowns as contractor crews relocate work zone and move traffic
- Drivers urged to avoid area during mid-day on July 9
- Chestnut Expressway will remain open to one lane in each direction after the traffic shift to the westbound lanes
Details: Work is part of a project to repair components underneath the bridge and replace the bridge deck (driving surface) over the railroad tracks near the Ozarks Technical Community College and Drury University campuses. The project is set for completion by mid-to-late August.
