DETOUR CORRECTION: I-70 to CLOSE in Both Directions on East Side of Downtown Loop July 10-13

JACKSON COUNTY– The Missouri Department of Transportation will CLOSE both directions of I-70 on the east side of the downtown loop beginning on Friday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m. until approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, July 13. The closure will impact both eastbound and westbound traffic from approximately Admiral Blvd. to Paseo Blvd. and close all ramps in between. Motorists must find alternate routes during this time. All work is weather permitting.

IMPORTANT/CORRECTION: This closure will impact drivers using the detour currently in place for KDOT’s Lewis and Clark Bridge replacement project. Correction in detours: Motorists traveling this direction on I-35 south should use the northern portion of the downtown loop. Travelers headed north on U.S. 71 should follow westbound I-670. Westbound I-70 travelers will also follow westbound I-670.

This closure is part of a pavement rehabilitation project along both directions of I-70 in downtown Kansas City from approximately State Line to the Manchester Trafficway scheduled to be completed by mid-October 2020. All work is weather permitting.

Please be patient and considerate to your fellow motorists. Use the zipper merge and take turns at merge points.  Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE ZONES. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.

For potential impacts to traffic, please review KC Scout cameras at http://www.kcscout.net or consult our real-time traffic partner, WAZE.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
