JACKSON COUNTY– The Missouri Department of Transportation will CLOSE various lanes and ramps along I-70 in the downtown Kansas City area this week beginning on Monday, June 29. These closures will be overnight between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists must find alternate routes during this time. All work is weather permitting.
Monday, June 29
- Eastbound I-70 will be reduced to one lane from approximately 18th Street to U.S. 40 Highway beginning at 8 p.m. until approximately 6 a.m. the following morning.
- There will be various intermittent ramp closures along eastbound I-70 between 18th St. and U.S. 40 Highway beginning at 8 p.m. until approximately 6 a.m. the following morning. These closures should only last about an hour in duration per ramp.
Tuesday, June 30
- Westbound I-70 will be reduced to one lane from approximately the Manchester bridge to Van Brunt Blvd. beginning at 8 p.m. until approximately 6 a.m. the following morning.
- Crews will CLOSE the following ramps associated with the lane closures along westbound I-70 beginning at approximately 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning:
- The off ramp from westbound I-70 to U.S. 40 Highway
- The on ramp from U.S. 40 Highway to westbound I-70.
- The off ramp from westbound I-70 to Van Brunt Blvd.
Wednesday, July 1
- Westbound I-70 will be reduced to one lane from approximately U.S. 40 Highway to 23rd Street beginning at 8 p.m. until approximately 6 a.m. the following morning.
- Crews will CLOSE the following ramps associated with westbound I-70 lane closure beginning at approximately 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning:
- The on ramp from Van Brunt to westbound I-70.
- The off ramp from westbound I-70 to Jackson Ave.
- The on ramp from 27th street to westbound I-70
This closure is part of a pavement rehabilitation project along both directions of I-70 in downtown Kansas City from approximately State Line to the Manchester Trafficway scheduled to be completed by mid-October 2020. All work is weather permitting.
