Bridge Replacement Set to Begin for Macon County Route D in LaPlata

MACON – Weather permitting, Monday, Aug. 17, at 7:00 a.m., crews will begin a bridge replacement project on Macon County Route D in LaPlata. The project will be the bridge over the BNSF Railroad, located just off U.S. Route 63 at LaPlata.

“We are glad we are able to move forward with the replacement of this bridge,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Brian Untiedt. “This bridge carries over 2000 vehicles a day. With significant deterioration occurring over the years, and for the safety of motorists, the time to replace it has arrived,” he added.

Phillips Hardy, of Columbia, Missouri, was awarded the project for approximately $1,811,583. They have 120 calendar days to complete the project. The road will be closed during construction.

The new bridge will be 28 feet wide, which is 6 feet wider than the existing one, and will have additional safety features.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
