HANNIBAL – Under construction since late March, the bridge on Missouri Route 79 over McLean’s Branch, located north of Winfield, is scheduled to open the afternoon of Friday, June 26.
“This is the final bridge to be replaced on MO 79 between Louisiana and Winfield,” explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer, Erik Maninga. “The new bridge is eight feet wider and twenty feet longer than the original bridge, built in 1938, and features additional guardrail for safety,” he added.
Bleigh Construction Company submitted the low bid of $821,331 and was awarded the contract last fall. This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
