MoDOT set to begin an extensive resurfacing project on MO Route 291

CLAY/JACKSON COUNTIES – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close various lanes of northbound and southbound Route 291 between Leonard St. (Clay County) and Route 78/23rd St. (Jackson County) beginning Thursday, June 25 and continuing until Wednesday, Nov. 11 for resurfacing and bridge repair work. All work is weather dependent.

Road closures in this area has the potential for creating significant traffic slowdowns. We encourage motorists to plan ahead. This is all part of a ten-mile resurfacing project that is expected to be completed in four months.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
