Diamond Grinding Project Set to Begin for U.S. Route 36 in Macon County

MACON – Weather permitting, Tuesday, July 7, crews will begin the first phases of a diamond grinding project on U.S. Route 36 in Macon County, from the Linn County line to Bevier.

In the first phase crews will be installing guardrail and performing slab jacking at various locations. Concrete patching and the diamond grinding will take place later.

“This entire project includes various types of pavement repairs and crack sealing,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Untiedt. “Once those repairs are complete, the contractor will perform a diamond grind of the full driving surface to improve the ride.”

Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zones while the work is completed. Please obey all work zone signs and personnel. Message boards will be up to notify motorists of the upcoming work.

Emery Sapp and Sons, of Columbia, Missouri, was awarded the project in the amount of $2,098,500. They have 125 calendar days to complete the project.
