Traffic update: Hillcrest bridge over I-470 scheduled to open this Friday

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will reopen Hillcrest Bridge over Interstate 470 by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 26.

MoDOT will close the right lane of westbound I-470 at Hillcrest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23 as crews install fence structure and permanent signs, finish the grade, remove the barrier and replace the guard rail on the bridge.  All work is weather dependent.

MoDOT closed Hillcrest in late March to make repairs and improvements. These improvements include substructure repairs, bridge deck replacement and bridge girder repairs.

This bridge project is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state. Approximately, 3,500 vehicles drive on Hillcrest bridge each day.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
