MOUND CITY, Mo. – Emergency repairs to guardrail damaged in a recent crash will close a section of southbound Interstate 29 in Holt County this week. Contractors from Clarkson Construction Company, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will close I-29 southbound, between Mound City (mile marker 84) and Route E (mile marker 80), from 7 p.m. Friday, June 19, through 7 a.m. Saturday, June 20, in order to complete necessary safety repairs.
The closure will occur within the work zone of the Route E Bridge deck replacement projects where traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction. During the closure, southbound traffic will be directed onto U.S. Route 59 (mile marker 84) to reconnect with I-29 near Oregon (mile marker 76).
These bridges are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change. Motorists are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades and to eliminate distractions. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.
