CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation in partnership with the City of Kansas City, will soon begin construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Route 1 and Parvin Rd.
Crews will close both Route 1 and Parvin Rd. beginning Thursday, June 18 and a posted detour will be in place. The construction project will take approximately five months and is anticipated to be complete by mid-November.
The new roundabout will help improve safety at the currently 4-way stop sign controlled intersection. It will also reduce traffic delay and improve traffic flow. All work is weather dependent.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
