Pavement repair and resurfacing to begin soon in Daviess and Grundy counties

TRENTON, Mo. – The resurfacing portion of a multi-stage project to resurface, improve shoulders, and rehabilitate sidewalks on Route 6 from Interstate 35 in Daviess County to the Muddy Creek Bridge east of Trenton is set to begin next week.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to complete the project. The sidewalk rehabilitation portion of the work, to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), began May 7, 2020. This included the relocation of water lines within the city of Trenton.

As the sidewalk portion of the project wraps up, crews plan to begin pavement repairs, which help prepare Route 6 for resurfacing. Pavement repairs will begin Wednesday, June 17, 2020, working from east to west. The contractor will make several loops within the project limits in order to complete the repairs. Immediately following the pavement repairs, crews will begin resurfacing.

During pavement repairs and resurfacing, Route 6 will be narrowed to one lane and a pilot car and flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. Resurfacing is scheduled to continue through mid to late August. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place until the project is complete. Motorists will encounter delays and may wish to seek an alternate route.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change. Motorists are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades and to eliminate distractions, as crews will be working in close proximity to the traveling public. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.
