MACON – Weather permitting, Monday, June 15, crew will begin sealing projects in Adair, Macon and Knox County. Crews will start on Adair County Route P, from Business 63 to U.S. Route 63 in Kirksville. Once that project is complete crews will move to Adair County Route H, from LaHarpe Street to Missouri Route 11 in Kirksville. They will next move onto Missouri Route 3, beginning at MO 11 in Adair County to Missouri Route 156 in Macon County near Cardy. The final stretch will be Missouri Route 11 from Missouri Route 15 near Baring to Missouri Route 129 in Linn County. All work is expected to be completed by mid-July.
Crews will be applying liquid asphalt that helps seal off any cracks that may be in the road, and will then apply small aggregate,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Amy Crawford.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zones using a pilot car while the work is completed. Please obey all work zone signs and personnel. Message boards will be up to notify motorists of the upcoming work.
“Motorists need to slow down on roads where chip sealing is in progress,” said Crawford. “Most damage to vehicles comes when drivers are going too fast or ignore road conditions in a chip seal work zone.”
W. L. Miller of Hamilton, Illinois, was awarded the projects.
