Interstate 70 Loutre River Bridge Project Entering Final Phase

HANNIBAL – The replacement of the westbound bridge over the Loutre River on Interstate 70 is entering its final phase after beginning the project in the summer of 2019.   Wednesday overnight, June 24, a major concrete deck pour will occur.  “The pour will take place beginning around midnight Wednesday and the bridge will be one lane until early Thursday morning with a width restriction of 12 feet,” explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Erik Maninga.  He added that the truck parking facility will be closed during this time.  All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled.  There is still a small “closure pour” that will be done after this to complete the bridge deck.

“This has been a major work zone for over a year now, and we utilize message boards, our online traveler map and work zone control items, along with media, to keep motorists informed,” Maninga said.

The project was awarded by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission to Phillips Hardy for $5.4 million and includes replacement of the westbound bridge.
