Urgent Pavement Repairs to Close Eastbound Lane of I-70 Near the Rocheport Bridge

BOONE COUNTY – Eastbound Interstate 70 will be down to one lane across the Missouri River bridge near Rocheport Monday and Tuesday night as repairs are made to the roadway driving surface east of the bridge.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says the damage to the road is due to water gathering under the pavement, weakening the base layers and causing the roadway to settle.

A contractor working for MoDOT will begin making repairs at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9 and will work overnight until 6 a.m. both nights. MoDOT says weather or other potential work delays could cause the project to be extended additional nights.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane west of the bridge and the speed limit will be reduced to 60 mph through the work zone. Some traffic congestion and delays are possible. Drivers are encouraged to take alternative routes around the work zone, such as U.S. Route 40.

Westbound lanes on the bridge will remain open throughout the project and traffic is expected to flow normally.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed. For more information about this project or other transportation-related matters, please call 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636) or visit www.modot.org/central. Follow the MoDOT Central Missouri District on Facebook and Twitter for project updates.
