Emergency Closure of the bridge over the South Wyaconda River on Route C in Scotland County

HANNIBAL – Today, June. 3, the Missouri Department of Transportation closed the bridge over the South Wyaconda River, located on Route C in Scotland County, approximately four miles west of Brock. During a routine bridge inspection, significant deterioration was found on the bridge. The bridge will remain closed pending further analysis of the structure.

The recommended alternate routes of travel during the closure are Missouri Route 15 to Route CC to Route B in Scotland County. Message boards will be in place notifying motorists of the closure.

The timber structured bridge, built in 1936, carries an average of 70 vehicles daily. It is one of over ten thousand bridges on the state highway system and is scheduled to be replaced in the state fiscal year 2020 – 2024 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
