CARROLLTON, Mo. – Route C in Carroll County between Routes D and F has been closed since May 2, 2019. During the flooding that swept through Northwest Missouri last year, two culverts on that portion of Route C received significant damage and were washed out. For the safety of all drivers, local crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation closed the road until replacement of the damaged culverts could be completed by a contractor. At their April 2020 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a project to replace the culverts at Turkey Creek and Branch of Turkey Creek to Gene Haile Excavating, Inc. out of California in the amount of $849,887.96.
The contractor plans to begin work June 15. The road will remain closed through construction of the two new culverts. Motorists will need to continue to use an alternate route until all work is complete. The contractor plans to have the road reopened on or before Nov. 1, 2020. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones and to not move or drive around barricades.
