JACKSON COUNTY– The Missouri Department of Transportation will have various lane closures along Interstate 70 near I-435 next week beginning on Monday, June 1. This works include significant ramp closures and a rolling slow down and will have impacts on traffic. All work is weather permitting.
- A lane of westbound and eastbound I-70 will be CLOSED at I-435 for bridge construction DAILY beginning on Monday, June 1, through Wednesday, June 3, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
- Westbound I-70 will be reduced to ONE LANE OVERNIGHT on both Monday, June 1, and Tuesday, June 2, from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following mornings.
- The ramp from northbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 will be CLOSED for pavement construction OVERNIGHT on Monday, June 1, from 8 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning.
- The ramp from southbound I-435 to westbound I-70 will be CLOSED for pavement marking work early Tuesday morning, June 2, beginning at 12 a.m. until 5 a.m.
- Eastbound I-70 will be reduced to OE LANE at I-435 for barrier and pavement marking work OVERNIGHT on both Tuesday, June 2, and Wednesday, June 3, from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
- There will be a rolling slow down in all directions at the I-435 and I-70 interchange beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3. This will only last about minutes.
This is all part of a new interchange design being built at I-435 and I-70. The new design will be a partial turbine configuration. Improvements include full bridge replacements, removal of left exits, improvements to loop ramp configuration, and congestion relief. This project will have significant impacts on traffic for two full construction seasons and is scheduled to be complete by Dec. 2020. For more information about this project, visit our website.
