CALLAWAY COUNTY – Motorists along Interstate 70 will soon see the start of construction on a Callaway County outer road in anticipation of the replacement of the Route D bridge southwest of Williamsburg.
The Route D bridge over I-70 will be closed for up to three months while the replacement takes place. Motorists will be asked to find a detour route during the closure. The project will also require a single-night closure of I-70 in both directions from Route A/Z to Route D/YY. This closure is expected to take place in late June. Motorists will be advised of the closure in advance and an assigned detour will be in place.
Beginning the week of June 1, crews will begin making some roadway improvements at various locations along the north outer road of I-70 near the Route D bridge. Single lane closures will be in effect with flaggers guiding traffic through the work zone. Motorists are asked to slow down, watch for crews, and avoid distractions.
This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
