Bridge Replacement at Billy's Branch on Macon County Route DD Set to Begin in June

MACON – Weather permitting, Monday, June 8, Macon County Route DD is planned to close at Billy’s Branch, located just west of Ten Mile, for a bridge replacement project. Phillips Hardy, of Columbia, Missouri, was awarded the project in the amount of $741,959.

Once replaced, Billy’s Branch will be 24 feet wide, which is 4 feet wider than the existing bridge. Guardrail will also be added to increase the safety of motorists crossing the bridge. The new bridge is planned to be completed by late summer. Signs will be in place to notify motorists of the upcoming closure.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

Currently there is a bridge painting project underway on Route DD that has the bridge closed at Middle Fork Salt River, located approximately three miles east of U.S. Route 63. “Since both of these projects require the closure of the road, they will not be happening concurrently,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Brian Untiedt. “The closure at Billy’s Branch will occur once Middle Fork Salt River is open,” he added.
