Bridge repair delayed at Wakenda Creek south of Carrollton

CARROLLTON, Mo. – Contractors completed work on the Missouri River Overflow Bridge this week and had planned to finish joint repair work at the Wakenda Creek Bridge as well, but the joint repair has been postponed. The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Lehman Construction, LLC to complete a bundle of four bridge rehabilitations. The Chariton River and Long Creek bridges on U.S. Route 24 in Chariton County were completed in 2019 and work on the Missouri River Overflow Bridge, located 2 miles north of the Missouri River, was completed this week.

The final piece in the four-bridge bundle of projects is set to begin Tuesday, May 26, 2020 when crews repair a bridge joint on the Wakenda Creek Bridge just south of Carrollton. During the work, traffic will be narrowed to one lane and directed over the bridge with traffic signals. The repair is expected to take one to two days.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones.
