COLUMBIA – As part of the ongoing sidewalk and pedestrian improvements project along Missouri Route 163 (Providence Road) in Columbia, the east side of the Walnut Street intersection will be temporarily closed.
Access to Walnut from Providence Road will be closed for one week starting on Monday, May 18th. Motorists will still be able to access Walnut Street from alternate routes.
Message boards and signs will be in place to alert motorists of the closure. Please use caution in work zones, slow down and watch for crews.
The closure of the east entrance onto Walnut Street from Providence Road will allow contractors working for the Missouri Department of Transportation to make improvements that will bring sidewalks into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The work is part of a project making ADA improvements along Providence Road from Vandiver Drive to Route K.
