Mussel Fork River and Overflow bridges now open to two-way traffic

Additional lane closures may be necessary

KEYTESVILLE, Mo. – Under construction since June 2019, the project to replace two bridges west of Keytesville on U.S. Route 24 is nearing completion. The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Don Schneider’s Excavating Company, Inc., to lead the Mussel Fork River and Mussel Fork River Overflow bridge replacement project.

Yesterday, May 6, 2020, crews were able to open all lanes to two-way traffic, though some work may still occur off the roadway. During the additional work necessary to complete the project, periodic lane closures may be necessary. When a lane is closed, temporary traffic signals, in place since the beginning of the project, will be utilized to safely move traffic through the work zone.

All work is expected to be completed by the end of May.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change. Motorists are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades and to eliminate distractions. Crews will be working close to traffic. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.
