BOONE COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation is requesting public feedback regarding the replacement of the Interstate 70 South Outer Road bridge over Little Cedar Creek in Boone County, east of Columbia.
The existing Little Cedar Creek Bridge was built in 1961 and is 20 feet wide. By extending the existing box culvert located under eastbound I-70 and removing the existing bridge, the pavement will be one foot wider with two-foot shoulders, improving safety for travelers.
During construction, the I-70 Southeast Outer Road will be closed at the bridge for approximately three months. Motorists will be encouraged to use an alternate route, which can be found at https://www.modot.org/little-cedar-creek-bridge-replacement.
The project is being let in February 2021 in combination with the rehabilitation of the Callaway County I-70 westbound bridge over Auxvasse Creek and the Boone County I-70 eastbound and westbound bridges over Perche Creek.
Construction will take place in 2021, and the project should be completed by winter of 2021.
This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
Motorists and area residents are encouraged to provide feedback and comments on this project. Visit modot.org/central. The online comment period will run from May 1 - 15.
