SIKESTON-As construction of the diverging diamond interchange at Interstate 55 and U.S. Route 61 (mile marker 99) between Cape Girardeau and Jackson, Missouri, continues emergency repairs on the southbound portion of the Interstate 55 bridge are planned with an overnight closure Wednesday. There will be no impacts to northbound traffic.
Weather permitting, the southbound portion of Interstate 55 bridge will be closed from Exit 105 (Route 61/Fruitland) to Exit 96 (William/Route K) on Wednesday, April 29, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as contractor crews repair potholes on the bridge. The southbound on-ramp at Exit 99 will remain open.
The work zones will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
