News Sidewalks Planned for Bevier and New Cambria

MACON – Individuals will begin to see changes in Bevier and New Cambria beginning in early May. Pavement Solutions of St. Peters, Missouri, was awarded a contract in the amount of $1,161,730 for two sidewalk projects that are being completed as a part of MoDOT’s initiative to bring all MoDOT facilities into compliance with the current standards of the American’s with Disabilities Act.

One project is located along Macon County Route C in Bevier. New sidewalks and curb ramps, along with new concrete pavement and curb and gutter, will be constructed. The entire project runs between the railroad tracks and going to south of Jefferson Street. The contractor has 105 calendar days to complete this project.

Construction of new sidewalks and curb ramps between Macon County R-IV School and Trailer Court Lane will also take place in New Cambria. The contractor will have 75 calendar days to complete this project.

“We are looking forward to completing these projects, as we work towards our goal of making our transportation system accessible to everyone,” said Resident Engineer and ADA Specialist Shane Viers. “There will be temporary closures during these projects, but more specific information will be shared once we have the dates,” he added.

Plans are to start the project in New Cambria on Tuesday, May 5, with work starting in Bevier shortly after.
