Pavement Work Begins as Part of I-70 Outer Road Improvement Project

COLUMBIA – A project working to improve safety devices and driving surfaces along Interstate 70 Outer Roads will continue next week with pavement work starting in Columbia.

Starting Monday, April 13, contractors for the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be upgrading guardrail and adding a one-inch overlay on Interstate 70 Drive Northeast/E. ABC Lane between Route 63 and Route J.

Similar work was completed nearby as part of this project along Interstate 70 Drive Southeast last week, and will be occurring at several locations along Interstate 70 Outer Roads in Boone and Callaway Counties throughout the summer.

This work will require multiple single lane closures at the various locations. Vehicles will be flagged through the work zone. Signs will alert motorists of upcoming closures. The information will also be provided on the MoDOT Traveler Information Map and MoDOT Central District social media pages.

Motorists are advised to use extra caution through work zones, obey all traffic signs, and avoid any distractions.

This project is expected to be completed by November 1.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
