Single Lane Closures to Begin as Part of Route 54 Interchange Construction

LAKE OZARK – As construction moves forward on a new interchange north of Osage Beach, crews will be making adjustments that connect the current roadway to a temporary bypass.

The bypass will be utilized throughout the construction of two new bridges on Route 54, west of the existing intersection. Over the next several weeks crews will be adding new guard rails and connecting the existing roadway to the bypass.

This work will require single lane closures. Starting Thursday, April 9, the driving lane of eastbound Route 54 will be closed west of the Route W intersection. Crews will also close the westbound passing lane to the east of the Route W intersection, starting on Wednesday, April 15. Both lane closures are expected to be in place for up to three weeks.

Speed limits in both locations will be reduced to 50 miles per hour while work takes place. Motorists are asked to avoid distractions and obey all posted traffic signs.

The full scope of this project also involves the construction of three new roundabouts near the interchange. Crews will also complete grading and paving to incorporate the intersections of Route 54, Business Route 54, Miller County Route W and Osage Hills Road into the interchange.
