Outer Road of I-70 in Columbia to Undergo Guardrail Work

COLUMBIA – Motorists in Boone and Callaway counties will see safety and pavement enhancements on outer roads along I-70 in the coming months, starting in Columbia next week.

A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin the process of installing new guardrail along Interstate 70 Drive Southeast in Columbia between the U.S. Route 63 connector and St. Charles Road. That process will include some preliminary work near the Hominy Creek Bridge.

Work will begin Monday, April 6. The road will be down to one lane of traffic between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day. Flaggers will guide vehicles through the work zone. Motorists are asked to give themselves more travel time, pay attention and watch for crews in work zones.

This work is part of a larger guardrail installation and overlay project taking place along outer I-70 outer roads in Boone and Callaway County. This project is expected to be completed by November 1.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
