Columbia ADA Improvements Project in Final Phase

COLUMBIA – As part of the ongoing Missouri Route 763/College Avenue and Missouri Route 163/Providence Road sidewalk and pedestrian improvements project in Columbia, access will be limited to Stewart Road starting next week.

The closure of the Stewart Road entrance will allow contractors working for the Missouri Department of Transportation to perform sidewalk improvement work that will bring the sidewalks into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 30, the entrance of Stewart Road on the west side of Providence Road will close and will not reopen until Monday, April 6. Properties along Stewart Road will still be accessible.

Crews will also be installing crosswalk pavement markings on College Avenue next week between Business Loop 70 and Missouri Route 740/Stadium Boulevard, which will require intermittent lane closures. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction of Providence Road at all times. This work will be done during daytime hours.

This project is expected to be completed by fall 2020.

Message boards and signs will be in place to alert motorists of lane closures along College Avenue and the closure of Stewart Road. Please use caution in work zones, slow down and watch for crews.

Work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
