Postponed: Interstate 229 bridge work rescheduled

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Weather has once again delayed bridge repairs on Interstate 229, crews are now planning to begin work Monday, March 23. Herzog Contracting Corp., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will begin making repairs to several bridge ends in the I-229 northbound driving lane from 22nd Street to the Cook Road overpass. Crews will then move to the southbound driving lane followed by the northbound passing lane and lastly, the soutbound passing lane. This work will include various short-term ramp closures.

One lane each direction of I-229 will remain open during the work and a 14-foot width restriction will be in place around the clock. While crews may only be on site during daylight hours, some lane closures may remain in place overnight.

During the work, motorists may experience delays. The project is weather dependent and could be rescheduled.
