ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Due to weather, crews are now planning to begin bridge repairs on Interstate 229 tomorrow, Thursday, March 19. Herzog Contracting Corp., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, was able to complete repairs to the I-29 Pigeon Creek Bridge (mile marker 39.6) and Bee Creek Bridge (mile marker 33.8) yesterday as scheduled, but have postponed the I-229 repairs scheduled for today.
Repairs are now expected to begin on the I-229 northbound driving lane from 22nd Street to the Cook Road overpass on Thursday, March 19, weather permitting. Crews will then move to the southbound driving lane followed by the northbound passing lane and lastly, the soutbound passing lane. This work will include various short-term ramp closures.
One lane each direction of I-229 and I-29 will remain open during the work and a 14-foot width restriction will be in place around the clock. While crews may only be on site during daylight hours, some lane closures may remain in place overnight.
During the work, motorists may experience delays. The project is weather dependent and could be rescheduled.
