MoDOT Seeks Public Input on Potential Impact of Upcoming Gasconade River Bridge Demolition

LACLEDE COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be accepting public feedback on Gasconade River traffic impacts that could result from the demolition of a bridge in Laclede County.

Demolition of the old Interstate 44 Outer Road bridge over the Gasconade River west of Hazelgreen in Laclede County is tentatively scheduled to begin this summer. The bridge, which was closed to traffic in December 2014 due to extensive deterioration, was replaced by a new bridge on the I-44 Outer Road and opened in August 2019.

Contractors working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin the process of tearing down the old bridge this summer, which could restrict navigational traffic on the Gasconade River and restrict use of the Hazelgreen Access.

Comments on the possible impact to Gasconade River traffic due to this project will be accepted at modot.org/lacledecountybridgedemolition or by calling 573-522-5265 through Friday, March 27, 2020.

While a date for that work has not been established, MoDOT will alert the public with updates through signs, news releases and social media once a start date has been determined.

For more information about this project or other transportation-related matters, please call 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636) or visit www.modot.org/central. Follow the MoDOT Central Missouri District on Facebook and Twitter for project updates.
