JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close Hillcrest Bridge over Interstate 470 from the north end of the bridge to 107th St. for bridge repairs from Thursday, March 26 to Wednesday, June 17. This has been pushed back a week due to weather.

This project will include lane drops along I-470. Lane closures will occur from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Below is the updated information for lane drop days and times:

  • March 29 and 30: The westbound on-ramp from Blue Ridge Blvd. will be closed. The right two lanes of westbound I-470 east of Hillcrest and access to westbound Interstate 435 will also be closed.
  • March 31: The left two lanes of westbound I-470 east of Hillcrest will close. Ramps from I-470 to Interstate 49, U.S. Route 71 and I-435 will be closed.
  • April 1 and 2: The left two lanes of eastbound I-470 east of Hillcrest will be closed. Traffic from Route 71 and I-435 will be forced to merge onto eastbound I-470.
  • April 5 and 6: The right three lanes of eastbound I-470 east of Hillcrest will be closed. Ramps to northbound Route 71 and eastbound I-435 will be closed.

All work is weather dependent.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
