ST. CHARLES COUNTY – Motorists can expect major delays on the I-70 Blanchette Bridge this weekend as crews work to install the median bypass and place two eastbound lanes of traffic onto the westbound bridge. On Friday, March 13 from 8 p.m. until approximately noon Saturday, March 14 multiple eastbound lanes will be closed. Eastbound I-70 will be down to one lane at various times starting Friday night at 8 p.m. into Saturday afternoon. Alternate routes such as Route 364, Route 370, and Interstate 64/Route 40 are suggested. The on-ramp to eastbound I-70 from Fifth Street will be closed several times starting Wednesday night as crews prepare to switch traffic.
Please note the following times and detour suggestions:
- Wednesday, March 11 – The on-ramp to eastbound I-70 from Fifth Street will close Wednesday night at approximately midnight until 3 a.m. Thursday. Motorists are encouraged to use Convention Center Blvd.
- Friday, March 13- Starting at 8 p.m. The on-ramp from Veterans Memorial Parkway to eastbound I-70 will close. This is the ramp just east of the convention center. This ramp will remain closed until November 2020.
- Friday night, March 13- Starting at midnight the on-ramp from Route 94 to eastbound I-70 will be closed till 8 a.m. Saturday, March 14. Motorists can use Page Ave or Route 370 as alternate routes.
- Friday night, March 13 – Starting at midnight until 8 a.m. Saturday, March 14, the Fifth Street to eastbound I-70 will be closed. Drivers can also take Fifth Street north to Route 94 to get to Route 370 or Fifth Street/Arena Parkway south to Route 364.
- Friday night, March 13- At midnight until 3 a.m. Saturday, March 14, the eastbound I-70 ramp to Fifth Street will close for restriping until 3 a.m.
- Friday night, March 13- At midnight until 3 a.m. Saturday, March 14, the eastbound I-70 ramp to Veterans Memorial Parkway will close for restriping.
- Monday night, March 16- From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, the Fifth Street on-ramp to eastbound I-70 will be closed. The eastbound bridge will also be closed from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. There will be two eastbound lanes for traffic that will cross over the westbound bridge for motorists to use. Drivers will be detoured to Route 94, where they will be able to access Eastbound I-70.
