Hillcrest Bridge over Interstate 470 closes on March 12, lane drops along 470 start on March 15

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close Hillcrest Bridge over Interstate 470 from the north end of the bridge to 107th St. for bridge repairs from Thursday, March 12 to Wednesday, June 10.

This project will also include lane drops along I-470. Lane closures will occur from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Lane closures will take place on the following days and times:

  • March 15 and 16: The westbound on-ramp from Blue River Blvd. will be closed. The right two lanes of westbound I-470 east of Hillcrest and access to westbound Interstate 435 will also be closed.
  • March 17: The left two lanes of westbound I-470 east of Hillcrest will close. Ramps from I-470 to Interstate 49, U.S. Route 71 and I-435 will be closed.
  • March 18 and 19: The left two lanes of eastbound I-470 east of Hillcrest will be closed. Traffic from Route 71 and I-435 will be diverted to merge onto eastbound I-470.
  • March 22 and 23: The right three lanes of eastbound I-470 east of Hillcrest will be closed. Ramps to northbound Route 71 and eastbound I-435 will be closed.

All work is weather dependent.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.                                    

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
