COOPER COUNTY – Route 179 will be closed at the Petite Saline Creek bridge, south of Wooldridge, for several months as crews work to replace the bridge.
The bridge was built in 1966 and, at 54 years old, has reached a point where replacement in necessary.
Contractors for the Missouri Department of Transportation are expected to be close the road and start work on the bridge on Monday, March 2. Signs are in place to alert motorists of the closure and guide drivers to assigned detours. The road is expected to be closed for up to five months.
This work was initially scheduled to be completed in 2019, but was delayed due to flooding along the Missouri River.
More details about the project are available online at modot.org/central.
