Informational Meeting to Discuss Route 63 Intersection Safety Improvements

BOONE/CALLAWAY COUNTIES – The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an public informational meeting on Tuesday, March 3 regarding a proposed project to make safety improvements to several intersections on U.S. Route 63 between Jefferson City and Columbia.

An average 30,000 vehicles use this section of road every day. This project was determined to be the best way to reduce crashes at intersections following a year-long traffic safety study.

The project is currently scheduled to start in 2021. Locations being addressed include the Angel Lane/Minor Hill Road, New Salem Lane, Loy Martin Road, and Renz Farm Road intersections. Budget permitting, Claysville Road and/or Westbrook Drive could also receive improvements.

The public meeting will be held from 4-6 p.m. in the Southern Boone Primary School Gymnasium located at 803 Henry Clay Blvd. in Ashland. The meeting will be an open house format and no formal presentation will be made. MoDOT representatives will be available to provide information and answer questions.

Project information and handouts presented at the public meeting, as well the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions, will also be available at modot.org/Route63Intersections. For more information, call toll free 1-888-ASKMODOT (275-6636).
