Barton/Jasper Counties – Drivers can expect daytime lane closings and occasional traffic delays when a project to resurface Interstate 49 in Barton and Jasper counties begins the week of March 2, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
I-49 will receive a new asphalt driving surface, new guardrail and shoulders in areas, rumble strips and pavement striping along a nearly 30 mile stretch between Lamar and I-44 near Carthage.
Crews will work during daytime hours between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. At least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction at all times. All lanes of traffic will be open during nighttime hours.
Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution.
Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.
