Henry County – Drivers can expect one-lane traffic ‘round the clock on Missouri Route 18 at the Grand River west of Clinton beginning the week of March 2 for a bridge rehabilitation project, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Contractor crews will remove and replace the driving surface of the bridge one half at a time.
Temporary traffic signals will regulate traffic crossing the bridge. Occasionally, flaggers will be on the bridge directing drivers.Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time when using Route 18.
In addition to the new driving surface, the contractor will install new guardrail at either end of the bridge.
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
The bridge was originally built in 1976 and rebuilt in 1988. It carries approximately 1,400 vehicles per day. The bridge deck is in poor condition and in need of frequent repairs.
