Work on Route 54 Interchange near Lake of the Ozarks Set to Begin Next Week

LAKE OZARK – A contractor for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin building a new interchange at the intersection of U.S. Route 54 and Business Route 54/Osage Hills Road in Lake Ozark next week.

The most recent data states that 32 crashes took place during the last five years at that intersection. The new interchange will replace the existing signaled intersection in an effort to increase traffic safety and improve traffic flow. The project will involve building two new bridges on Route 54, just west of the existing intersection, as well as three roundabouts near the interchange. Crews will also complete grading and paving to incorporate the intersections of Route 54, Business Route 54, Miller County Route W and Osage Hills Road into the interchange.

Construction on the new interchange will begin the week of Monday, February 3. Signs will be in place alerting motorists of construction. Crews will begin to prep the construction area on the east side of the intersection, near Osage Hills Road. There should little impact to traffic during this first phase of the project, however there could be brief intermittent lane closures as equipment and materials are brought in.

Work on the new interchange is expected to be completed by December 2021. Motorists will need to use caution and pay attention in work zones. MoDOT will provide traffic impact alerts and project updates as work progresses.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
