Diamond Grinding Project Awarded for U.S. Route 36 in Macon County

MACON – The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract to Emery Sapp, of Columbia, Missouri, for a diamond grinding project on U.S. Route 36, from the Linn County line to Bevier. The total cost of the project is $2,098,500.

“This project includes various types of pavement repairs and crack sealing,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Untiedt. “Once those repairs are complete, the contractor will perform a diamond grind of the full driving surface to improve the ride.”

Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zones while the work is completed. The work could begin as early as this spring and should be completed before next fall.

“A more specific schedule on this project will be shared after the contractor provides the plan for completing the work,” Untiedt added.
