JACKSON COUNTY – Due to inclement weather in the forecast for later this week, MoDOT Kansas City has adjusted its timeline regarding work this week at the I-435 and I-70 interchange. These updates may have impacts on northbound I-435 evening rush hour on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, leave early, or consider alternate routes.
This work includes a traffic switch for northbound I-435. Once this phase of work is completed, northbound traffic will cross over to the southbound lanes with traffic moving in two lanes each direction. This pattern will remain in place until the new northbound lanes and bridges are constructed. This work includes various lane closures. All work is weather permitting.
- Tuesday, Jan. 7
- NEW: The ramp from northbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 will be CLOSED for crash barrel attenuator repairs beginning at 9 a.m. until approximately noon on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
- NEW: The right lane of eastbound I-70 from Manchester Trafficway to I-435 will be CLOSED for lighting installation beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, until approximately 3 p.m. the same afternoon.
- Southbound I-435 will be reduced to ONE LANE from U.S. 40 Highway to Stadium Drive for temporary barrier placement beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, until approximately 3 p.m. the same afternoon.
- The left lane of westbound and eastbound I-70 will be CLOSED for bridge construction beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, until approximately midnight.
- Wednesday, Jan. 8
- NEW: Due to inclement weather in the forecast for later this week, crews will be accelerating their schedule and reduce northbound and southbound I-435 between Raytown Rd. and U.S. 40 Highway to ONE LANE for pavement marking re-configuration beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, until the work is completed. This work may last into evening rush hour and could have impacts to evening rush hour traffic along northbound I-435.
- Once this work is completed, northbound traffic will cross over onto the southbound lanes and traffic will move in two lanes each direction. This pattern will remain in place until the new northbound lanes and bridges are constructed.
- One lane of the ramp from westbound I-70 to northbound I-435 will be closed for retaining wall construction daily beginning at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. through Friday, Jan. 10.
- NEW: Due to inclement weather in the forecast for later this week, crews will be accelerating their schedule and reduce northbound and southbound I-435 between Raytown Rd. and U.S. 40 Highway to ONE LANE for pavement marking re-configuration beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, until the work is completed.
