Lane Closures Scheduled for Jan. 6-10th at I-435 and I-70 Interchange for Traffic Switch

JACKSON COUNTY –MoDOT Kansas City will be continuing construction at the I-435 and I-70 interchange next week beginning on Monday, Jan. 6. This work includes a traffic switch for northbound I-435. Once this phase of work is completed, northbound traffic will cross over to the southbound lanes with traffic moving in two lanes each direction. This pattern will remain in place until the new northbound lanes and bridges are constructed. This work includes various lane closures. Motorists are reminded to plan ahead, leave early if necessary, or consider an alternate route. All work is weather permitting.

  • Northbound and southbound I-435 will be reduced to ONE LANE between Raytown Rd. and U.S. 40 Highway daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 8, until Friday, Jan. 10.
  • One lane of the ramp from westbound I-70 to northbound I-435 will be closed for retaining wall construction daily beginning at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. starting Monday, Jan. 6, until Friday, Jan. 10.

This is all part of the I-435 and I-70 construction project and it will have significant impacts on traffic for two full construction seasons. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
