Snow and icy roads may threaten Monday commute
JEFFERSON CITY – As winter weather continues to move across the state on Monday, the Missouri Department of Transportation is urging motorists to use extreme caution on their evening commutes.
Forecasts of additional ice and snow throughout the day could make travel hazardous. The system is expected to make its way out of the state overnight but watch for refreezing, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
If you must travel, please allow extra time to reach your destination. Remember that even a trace of freezing precipitation can cause slippery roads. To check road conditions please go to MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map at traveler.modot.org. The map is also available as a free app for Apple and Android devices.
MoDOT also provides road condition information through its Customer Service Center. Dial 888-ASK-MODOT (888-275-6636) to speak with a customer service representative 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
