TRAFFIC ALERT: Weight Restriction Placed on I-49 Outer Road Bridge Over Center Creek Near Fidelity

Jasper County – A recent inspection of the I-49 Outer Road bridge over Center Creek north of Exit 47 near Fidelity revealed deteriorating conditions prompting an immediate need to reduce the existing weight limit on the bridge, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

All vehicles will be limited to 25 tons.

The legal maximum weight limit for vehicles in Missouri is 40 tons.

The bridge was built in 1926 and carries approximately 1,900 vehicles a day.

There are no plans to replace the bridge for the next several years.
