Callaway County Bridge Replacement Approved by Commission

CALLAWAY COUNTY - At its regular monthly meeting this week, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved a contract to replace the Route D bridge over Interstate 70 in Callaway County.

The contract was awarded to Emery Sapp and Sons, which submitted the low bid of $1,575,022.

The current bridge, located west of Williamsburg, is 56 years old. The condition of the bridge has reached a point where a bridge replacement is necessary. The bridges included in Governor Parson’s “Focus on Bridges” program passed by the Missouri General Assembly during its 2019 session. The program appropriated $50 million in state general revenue to fund 45 high priority bridge projects throughout the state.

A start date for work on the bridge has not yet been established. MoDOT will alert the public with updates through signs, news releases and social media once a start date has been determined. Once work begins, Route D will be closed for up to three months.
