I-70 and I-435 Interchange Construction Continues Next Week with Traffic Switch

JACKSON COUNTY –MoDOT Kansas City will continue construction work at the I-435 and I-70 interchange this week to transition southbound I-435 traffic onto new pavement. This work involves various lane and ramp closures. It will have impacts to traffic. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, leave early, or consider an alternate route. All work is weather permitting.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 5
    • Starting at approximately 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning, crews will also CLOSE the ramp from eastbound I-70 to southbound I-435. This closure is for striping work. Motorists MUST find alternate routes during this time.
  • Daily Work Monday, Nov. 4 through Friday, Nov. 8
    • Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, crews will reduce the ramp from westbound I-70 to northbound I-435 to ONE LANE for lighting installation. This lane closure will last all week.
  • Nightly Work Monday, Nov. 4 through Wednesday, Nov. 6
    • Eastbound I-70 will be reduced to ONE LANE between U.S. Highway 40 and Stadium Drive for overhang removal beginning at 7 p.m. nightly until 5 a.m. the following mornings. There will be intermittent rolling slowdowns throughout the night.
    • Westbound I-70 will be reduced to ONE LANE between Blue Ridge Cutoff and Manchester Trafficway for overhang removal beginning at 7 p.m. nightly until 5 a.m. the following mornings. There will be intermittent rolling slowdowns throughout the night.
